Kilncasting
Sherri Gamble's Personal Page
Sherri Gamble is an artist drawn to narrative living and working in the Seattle area. Growing up in the woods of the southeast evoked her imagination beyond the immediate. Texture is the undercurrent of her work, as each form and surface creates a story of its own. Living in the Pacific Northwest since 1996 has added another layer of appreciation of nature. Exploring the dark forests and open fields with her husband and dogs grounds and inspires her.
She received a B.A. in Behavioral and Social Sciences at Humboldt State University. Then, she pursued a career in program management at Microsoft from 1998-2006. Toward the later end of her career there, she decided to explore decorative arts and interior design. She trained at Seattle Architectural Finishing Studio and also earned an A.A in Interior Design at Bellevue College. In 2006, she started Sage Artistry llc and has performed over 150+ plaster installations and interior design projects across the Pacific Northwest. In continuing to un-earth her creativity, she has been studying hot and kiln-cast glass at Pratt Fine Art Center since 2009. It is there that she studied kiln-casting with the late Susan Balshor who strongly supported her growth in this new medium. In 2012, she was a Pilchuck Glass School scholarship recipient which ignited her dedication for glass art and education. Currently, she teaches and experiments with glass casting through mentors Cathy Chase, Carol Milne, and the kiln-casting student community at Pratt Fine Art Center. Her cast glass works have been displayed at venues and exhibitions across Seattle.
